Tony Greg ! ටෝනි ගෙර්ග් !

I remember how the Chairman of Jetwing Hotels, Hiran Cooray introduced him to me in 2001. I was then heading Sri Lanka Tourism. Tony, always wanted to know more about Sri Lanka, and spoke with such affection about the beauty of this land. When the terrorists attacked the Colombo Airport and our tourism was in the doldrums, he was one of them who took the message to the cricketing world  and the rest of the world that we were back in action. That helped the recovery process so much. I did not know him that well or personally like many of you did. But the little I knew of him, I knew that he was a good human being who stood for the underdog and for what is right. The only consolation is that now his suffering and pain ends for this birth. May he attain the eternal bliss of Nibbana!

ඔහු හොඳ මිනිසෙකු විය. මා මුලින් ඹහු හැඳින ගත්තේ 2001 වසරේදී ජෙට් වින්ග් හෝටල් සමාගමේ සභාපති හිරාන් කුරේ විසින් හඳුනා දුන් විටය. මා එවකට ශ්‍රී ලංකා සංචරණය බාරව වැඩ කළ කාළයයි. ඒ දිනවල සංචාරකයන් අප රටට පැමිනීමට පැකිලුක විටදීත්, අප ගුවන් තොටුපළ ත්‍රස්ත ප්‍රහාරයෙන් විනාශ වී, නැවත අප රටට සංචාරය සඳහා ඹවුන් ගෙන්නා ගැනීමට දිරි ගන්නා විටදීත් ටෝනි අපට මහත් රැකුලක් විය. අප රටේ සෞන්දර්යය  ගැන බොහෝ දේ දැන ගැනීමටත්, ඒ දේ පිළිබඳ ලෝක ක්‍රීඩා ලෝලීන් දැනුවත් කරනනටත්, ඔහු හැමවිටම උත්සුක විය. ඔහු වැටී සිටියවුන් සමග සිට, යුක්තියට අනුව ක්‍රියා කල, ඉතා හොඳ මිනිසෙකු විය. ඔහු දැන් විඳි වෙදනාවෙන් මිදී ඇත්තේ ජීවිතය, අන් සියල්ලක් මෙන්ම, අනිසි බව පසක් කරමිනි.  ටෝනි, ඔබට නිවන් සුව අත්වේවා !
