A day … a day

by Renton de Alwis

What’s in a day?
A day!
dawn, noon, an eve and …

‘I measure my life with coffee spoons’
Oh! how I wish,
I could have had Elliot,
stored away in some dark bin,
or have him disappear,

for I only want to measure mine,
with pol katu handi.

It’s a lovely morning,
and for sure
will be a great noon.
In this,
the eve of my life,

I would never
let it stand still.

There's so much
wonder
and so much pain.

A day, a day,
in a lifetime,
in Sansara,
is but,
only
a glimpse.
