Song and the singer

by Renton de Alwis

Your call was heard
melodiously laid
sweet music maketh
highs and lows
of joy and pain
on ends of scale
touched my heart
mind and soul

You didn't cry
rejoice or blame
sang your song
reached far and wide
took my hand
filled me whole
heard my call
of yearn, of hope

A song of love
of mother and child
of birds and bees
butterfly wings
of rainy days
and dreamy morns
you sang your song
our song, our song
