To the Mahabodhi bombers

by Renton de Alwis

Alawakas! Hey!
Did you not know
that wisdom's might
cannot be destroyed
with explosives

That raging fires of hatred
could only be doused
with cool winds of Dharma
swaying among leaves of the Bo tree

You touched his feet
with terrorist blood
did you not see a lotus blossom
spray companionate love in your midst

Did you not see
with blinded eyes
that your truth lay stolen still
like the silent heart of a stillborn babe?
