Blindness

by Renton de Alwis

I am blind, am blinded
made visually impaired
Yet, I see, see clearly
in the darkness
of moonless nights

I keep my eyes open
feel darkness, pain
suffering, wrong
touch poverty of means
ideas, power and feel

I lay blind, blinded
with my coloured glasses
touch, feel, hear, love
voices of reason
listen, see, touch, feel

I see you. Leader
tele-blind, blinded
here then is a cane white,
touch, feel, listen
for sounds of reason.
